The Bureau of Land Management's Sierra Front-Northwestern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council will meet at the BLM Carson City Field Office, 5665 Morgan Mill Road, at Deer Run Road on Monday and Tuesday, May 1 and 2 for its regular quarterly meeting. The public is invited.
The Monday morning session will begin at 10 a.m. and will include reports from BLM Nevada State Director Bob Abbey and the Carson City and Winnemucca field office managers on ongoing BLM projects, followed by presentation on geothermal resources of Nevada and the BLM's efforts in 1999-2000 in rehabilitating areas ravaged by wildfires.
A general public comment period will begin at 4 p.m. when citizens may address the council or present written comments.
On Tuesday, the council will discuss the BLM's Great Basin Restoration Initiative and agency plans for protecting the Sage Grouse; cover the BLM Nevada gather strategy for wild horses and burros for year 2000 and beyond, and review alternatives for the management of the Silver Saddle Ranch in Carson City.
