Five Carson Country players were first-team selections on the recently released Northern 4A all-conference list.
Nicole Freeman of Carson High School joined the Galena quartet of Jenn Molinari, Tiffany Kristie, Brooke Holland and Teresa Miller in receiving first-team recognition from conference coaches.
Freeman made the first-team at third base on the strength of some impressive offensive statistics, as the senior led Carson with her .544 season batting average, four home runs and 38 RBIs. She was a first-team pick last year as a pitcher.
Galena's Molinari was a repeat first-team pick at pitcher in her sophomore season, as she compiled a 14-3 record and 1.50 ERA in conference. Kristie, selected at first base, was one of the most feared power hitters in the conference with her .431 average, seven home runs and 34 RBIs. Miller, another sophomore, was named as a utility player as she set a school single season record with her .571 batting average in conference. Holland, a junior, hit .412 in conference and was a mainstay defensively in left field.
Carson pitcher Melissa Stone and catcher Kellie Karasek were selected to the second-team, as were first baseman Hillary Moreira, third baseman Michelle Roza and freshman designated hitter Tarrah Kizer of Douglas. Galena outfielder Abby Parker was also selected to the second-team.
