A number of local anglers were winners in the recent Caples Lake Fishing Derby at Caples Lake, Calif. The three-day derby, which attracted more than 30 fishermen, was sponsored by the Alpine County Chamber of Commerce and its members.
The winners included:
- Tom Reynolds of Minden who won a horse and carriage ride from Hoofbeats of Minden.
- Brian Pommin of Carson City, a lift ticket at Kirkwood Ski Resort and breakfast for two at Sorensen's Resort.
- The Jack Fletcher family of Minden, assorted fishing supplies from the Carson River Resort.
- Doug Busey of Douglas County, dinner for four at the Alpine Restaurant in Markleeville, Calif.
- Markus McEntree of Carson City, a year's membership in the Alpine County Historical Society and Museum.
