Two Carson High School graduates have gained all-conference honors for softball at Long Island University in New York, it was announced on Thursday.
Margie Foster and Leah Sanchez were selected to the All-Northeast Conference first team, the only two players selected from their school.
Foster, a freshman third baseman, led Long Island with a .278 average, clubbing four homers and driving in 23 runs. Foster graduated from Carson High last year and was selected to the Nevada Appeal's All-Carson Country team last spring.
Sanchez batted .269 this season. The sophomore designated hitter also had a .389 on-base percentage and stole 14 bases.
Long Island, an NCAA Division I school, won the Northeast Conference regular season title with an 18-2 record. It will host the conference tournament this weekend.
