Nevada's Victims of Crime program will get an $847,000 federal boost.
The grant comes from revenues generated by criminal fines, penalty assessments and bail bond forfeitures collected by the federal government.
The grant money is used to help crime victims with medical bills, counseling and wage compensation as well as funeral costs when necessary.
"We can never fully eliminate the pain and trauma of someone who's been a victim of a violent crime but we can provide meaningful assistance to help crime victims get on with their lives," said program coordinator Brian Nix of the Department of Administration.
