Not enough time for lap swimmers at Carson pool

I am writing this letter to express my concern about how Carson City is spending our tax dollars. I recently purchased a swimming pass at the Carson Aquatic Facility so that I could swim a few days a week during the adult lap swim.

I picked up a schedule that indicated that lap swim times were from 5:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. I thought this broad range of time would give me some flexibility, but I soon found out that I would have to compete with the Kick Back Campers, swimming lessons and the Tigershark swimming team. When I expressed my feelings about not being able to get into any of the pools to Barbara Singer, head of the recreation department, she said that lap swimmers have more time now than they did before. Ms. Singer, two lanes for several adults is not enough room to swim.

I have been given a refund for my pass, and I plan to find other, less crowded facilities to work out. I understand that Carson City is a growing community, and it looks like we have already outgrown our swimming facility. But as a tax paying citizen who helped pay for that very lengthy and expensive pool renovation, I expect to at least be able to swim for 30 minutes during the posted adult lap swim time. If anyone else has experienced this inconvenience, please let Kurt Meyer at the Aquatic Facility know.
