A private memorial service for Stanley Murphy, 71, a Carson City resident for the past 50 years, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
There will be a gathering for family and friends after the service at the Carson Colony Gymnasium.
Mr. Murphy died May 3, 2000, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Oct. 27, 1928, in Bridgeport, Calif., to Foster and Leona Giraud Murphy.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Bridgeport.
Mr. Murphy was a retired construction worker and former member of Labor Union, Local 169. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Ferman (Sam) Prudenciado in 1982 and Billy Murphy and sister, Anita Boice in 1986.
Among his survivors are his wife, Melinda; sons, Willis, Dennis, Gerald, Randall, David, Richard and Danny; daughters, Charlene Jackson and Joleen Murphy, all of Carson City; sisters, Agnes Buckheart and June Bennett, both of Carson City and Karen Prudenciado of Bellingham, Wash.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; uncle, Pancho Alcano of Reno and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation will be at Walton's Carson Sierra Crematory.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
