A memorial service for Clifford R. Challender, 82, a Carson City resident for the past eight years, will be Nov. 27, in Panguitch, Utah, at the home of Kirk and Lavenda Moore.
Mr. Chandler died Oct. 29, 1999, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born in Chehalis, Wash., to John and Grace Masco.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Reno, coming from Coronado, Calif.
He married his wife, Lavenda in Las Vegas in 1938.
Mr. Challender worked in the food and beverage industry. The last 28 years of his career were spent with Eugene's Restaurant. He loved golf and won numerous golf tournaments including the club championship at Sierra Sage, Nevada State Father/Son Championship two years in a row and many others. During his golfing days he recorded two hole in ones and a Double Eagle. He was a very gracious man and extended his golfing talents to assist many others with their game. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavenda and three brothers.
Among his survivors are his son, Robert S., of Reno; daughter, Carole Lee Challender, of Carson City; granddaughter, Denise Carole Challender of Reno and numerous nieces and nephews in the state of Utah.
Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.
Waltons' Chapel of the Valley, crematory and Cemetery, is in charge of arrangements.
