James Hope Castor, Sr., 81, a Carson City resident for the past 33 years, died Nov. 5, 1999, at his residence. He was born Nov. 15, 1917, in Chicago, Ill., to Ray and Myrtle Hope Castor.
He graduated from Tilden High School in Chicago.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Chicago for 48 years.
Mr. Castor was a printer for the Nevada Printing Office for 16 years, retiring in 1982. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II from 1945-47.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Vera, in 1997, and Ruth, in 1948.
Among his survivors are his wife, Virginia, of Carson City; daughter, Jeri Smoot, of Chicago and Jonita Reinschmidt of Carson City; son, Jim Jr., of Carson City; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
