John R. Carlyon, 59, a Gardnerville resident for the past four years, died May 21, 2000, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Dec. 7, 1940, in San Rafael, Calif., to Glenn and Katherine Latimer Carlyon.
Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in San Jose, Calif.
Mr. Carlyon was a fire engineer for the San Jose Fire Department for almost 30 years. He was also a sheet metal contractor for 15 years. He enjoyed watching football and baseball on television and fishing.
Among his survivors are his longtime companion, Molly Carlyon of Carson City; daughters, Theresa R. and husband John Rodrigues of Fresno, Calif. and Kimberly A. Carlyon of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Mary Carlyon of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren, Robert, Jeffrey, Jenna and Kayla and great-grandddaughter Alexis.
A private memorial service will be at a later date.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home, Gardnerville, is in charge of arrangements.
