A celebration of life for John Stevenson Wales, 77, a Carson City resident for the past seven years and former Silver Springs resident, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Carson City.
Mr. Wales died May 31, 2000, at his home. He was born Oct. 20, 1922, in Oakland, Calif., to Harold and Mary Knowles Wales.
He married Tammy Moor on Aug. 21, 1988, in Carson City.
Mr. Wales worked as a security guard at the Ormsby House for the past seven years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carson City.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Among his survivors are his wife Tammy of Carson City; stepson Michael Moor of Santa Clara, Calif.; stepdaughters Kathy Moor of LaHabra, Calif., and Tammy Davis of Peyton, Colo.; sister Betty Golway of California; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Private inurnment will be at a later date at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
