A memorial service for Katherine Elizabeth "Betty" Pearce, 88, a Fallon resident for the past 44 years, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Epworth United Methodist Church, 280 E. Stillwater St., Fallon.
Mrs. Pearce died May 21, 2000, at her home. She was born Oct. 26, 1911, in Portland, Ore., to George Herman and Ellen Christine Jepsen Loest.
She attended elementary school in Ora Vada and graduated from Winnemucca County High School.
Before moving to Fallon, she lived in Winnemucca.
Mrs. Pearce and her husband owned and operated the Fallon radio station KVLV, and retired from broadcasting in 1988.
She was a member of the Nevada Broadcasters Association, Eastern Star of Winnemucca, Nevada Paint Horse Association, Nevada Pinto Horse Association and Kiwaniannes of Fallon. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Les, in December 1996.
Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law Lynn and Shelly Pearce of Fallon, son, Ed of Reno; daughter and son-in-law Dee and Mike McGinnes of Fallon and daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Jim Murdock of Reno; brother, Ed Loest of Vacaville, Calif.; sister, Dorothy McDermott of Visalia, Calif.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Les and Betty Pearce scholarship fund, c/o Colonial Bank, 200 S. Main St., Fallon 89506.
The Gardens Funeral Home, Crematory and Cemetery, is in charge of arrangements.
