A memorial service for Lewis Edwin Laughlin, 34, a Carson City resident for the past 31 years, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church.
Mr. Laughlin died May 22, 2000, at his home. He was born April 12, 1966, in Springfield, Mo., to Harley Edwin and Dorothy Jeannette Laughlin.
He graduated from Wooster High School and attended the University of Nevada, Reno.
Mr. Laughlin was president and CEO of the Laughlin Group of Companies headquartered in Carson City.
He was an active member of the First Christian Church. He served as a delegate to the Washoe County and the Nevada State Republican Central Committees and attended the Republican State Convention during four consecutive terms. He founded the Nevada Resident Agent Association and was a board member and former vice chairman of the Nevada Policy Research Institute. He was president of the Nevada Association of Independent Businesses. He held a private pilot's license and a certification for complex aircraft operation.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Among his survivors are his wife, Pamela, and 4-year-old son, David Edwin.
