A memorial service for Marjorie Francis Jordan, 82, a Gardnerville resident for the past 22 years, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley with the Rev. Pete Nelson officiating.
Mrs. Jordan died May 4, 2000, at Barton Skilled Nursing in Gardnerville.
She was born Aug. 28, 1917, in Athens, Ill., to James Francis and Edna Jane Clemens Parrish.
Before moving to Gardnerville, she lived in Idaho.
She married Ernest E. Jordan in 1938. He preceded her in death in 1979.
Mrs. Jordan was active in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and the Genoa Homemakers Club for many years. She began volunteering in 1981 at the Douglas County Public Library where she assisted the children's librarian until 1999. She received the Attorney General's Silver State Citizen Award for contributing over 2,000 hours of volunteer service.
Among her survivors are her daughter Sharon Clevesy of Auburn, Calif.; son Gary Jordan of Gardnerville; brother Lawrence Parrish of Springfield, Ill., and granddaughter Kristy Nutum of Carson City.
Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
Walton's Douglas County Mortuary, Minden, is in charge of arrangements.
