Obituary: Mark Abbie

A funeral for Mark G. Abbie, 33, a Carson City resident and lifetime Nevada resident, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Third Ward, 1331 McKay Drive.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.

Mr. Abbie died Feb. 16, 2000, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Feb. 24, 1966, in Schurz, to James Sr. and Ruth Pierce Abbie.

Mr. Abbie drove a bus for the Bureau of Indian Affairs firefighter crews. He was a member of the Washoe Tribe and affiliated with the Reno/Sparks Indian Colony. He was an advocate for Northern Nevada Amputees and an accomplished Native American flutist. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Among his survivors are his mother, brothers James J. and Jerome J.; sisters Ruth K. Eisenhour and April Abbie-Stepro, several nieces, a nephew and a great-niece, all of Carson City, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Burial will be at the Stewart Indian Cemetery.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
