A celebration of life for Mary Lorene Owens, 78, a Gardnerville resident for the past seven years, will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Carson Valley United Methodist Church with Pastor Pete Nelson officiating.
Mrs. Owens died Feb. 8, 2000, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. She was born May 9, 1921, in Wichita, Kan., to Harry Richard Knipe and Cynthia Tennessee Barnett-Hunsudker.
Before moving to Gardnerville, she lived in Reno.
Mrs. Owens was a homemaker for most of her life. Her life was centered around her family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and talking to people. She was a member of the Methodist church.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Logan in 1972 in Sparks; son John L. in 1946 in San Diego, Calif.; brothers Richard and Billy Knipe and sisters Ruth Bush and Barbara June Hartman.
Among her survivors are her daughters Cathy A. Sargent and Vickie L. Cunningham, both of Gardnerville; brother Cecil W. Knipe of California; grandchildren Marcie, Dena, Christopher and Matthew and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jacob.
