Obituary, Marylinda Shipman

Marylinda Shipman, 46, a Carson City resident for the past three years, died May 14, 2000, at her home.

She was born July 28, 1953, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Frank and Margaret Powell Shipman. Before moving to Carson City, she lived in San Francisco for 20 years.

She graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas and received an MBA degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco in 1981.

Ms. Shipman was an administrative assistant for the State of Nevada Department of Rehabilitation. She enjoyed reading, movies and performed volunteer work with the SPCA in San Francisco.

She was preceded in death by her mother in December 1987 and sister, Catherine in December 1965.

Among her survivors are her father of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas; brothers, George of San Francisco, John of San Jose, Calif., Frank III of Watford, England and Charles of Sugarland, Texas and sisters, Liz of San Francisco and Adrienne Yurdyga of Irving, Texas.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in her name.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery, is in charge of arrangements.
