Mervyn Lawrence McLaughlin, 90, a Topaz Ranch Estates resident for the past 26 years, died Jan. 26, 2000, at Carson Valley Medical Center. He was born Aug. 30, 1909, in Crescent City, Calif., to Edward James and Mary Ellen Brennen McLaughlin.
Before moving to Topaz Ranch Estates, he lived in Brooksville, Fla.
Mr. McLaughlin owned and operated McLaughlin Ranch in Crescent City, which is now a park. He was a trustee for Pine Grove School in Crescent City for 14 years and he was a Roman Catholic.
He enjoyed deer and duck hunting, and was a jockey in the county fair in Crescent City when he was younger. He was an excellent mechanic.
He was preceded in death by a brother, sister and wife, Constance Jeannette McCoy McLaughlin, at Topaz Ranch Estates May 6, 1994.
Among his survivors are his sons James L. of Crescent City and Patrick N. of Topaz Ranch Estates; daughters Catherine E. Painter of Ely and Stella Ann Rose of Burbank, Calif.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at a later date in California.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home, Gardnerville, is in charge of arrangements.
