Obituary: Norman Archie MacDonald

Memorial services are scheduled Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Dayton Community Center on Pike Street for Norman Archie MacDonald, 50, of Dayton.

Mr. MacDonald was born Sept. 1, 1949 in San Leandro, Calif., to Archie and Gertrude Bastin MacDonald. He died March 9, 2000 in Pleasant Valley.

Mr. MacDonald graduated from San Leandro High School in 1967. He took a heating and air conditioning course at Lee College in Baytown, Texas, in 1983 and attended lineman school at Texas A&M University in 1984.

He was a heating and air conditioning technician.

Mr. MacDonald served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam in 1968-69. He was a specialist fourth class and was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.

He had lived in Dayton for seven years and was commander of the American Legion Post 53 in Dayton from 1995 to 1998.

Mr. MacDonald was preceded in death by his father in December 1992.

Survivors include mother Gertrude of San Leandro; wife Mary C. and sons Ian and Alex, all of Dayton; brother Don of Englewood, Colo.; sisters, Nancy Zumwalt of Moss Beach, Calif., and Kathee Remlinger of Weed, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

A 2 p.m. inurnment service will follow the memorial services Tuesday at the Dayton Cemetery.

Cremation will be at Truckee Meadows Crematory

Reno Memorial Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
