A memorial service for Richard Allen, 76, a Minden resident for the past 29 years, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Carson Valley Community Church, 3616 N. Sunridge Drive, Carson City.
Mr. Allen died Feb. 14, 2000, at his home. He was born April 30, 1923, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Charles and Mary Flynn Allen.
Before moving to Minden, he lived in West Covina, Calif.
Mr. Allen worked as a machinist at Bently and retired after 17 years. He was a member of the Early Ford V8 Club of America and the Contemporary Historical Vehicle Association. He was also a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and was an aviation enthusiast. He enjoyed working on home-built aircraft and had a machine shop in his garage where he made things for other people. He was a member of the Carson Valley Community Church.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian "Billie," in 1990.
Among his survivors are his son Michael of Carson City; brother James of Phoenix, Ariz., and sister Rosemary Heimer of Oxnard, Calif.
Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery, is in charge of arrangements.
