A gathering will be held noon Sunday at the home of Rita M. Longnecker in memory of John James Dominguez, 71, who died at his home in Gardnerville on March 1.
Mr. Dominguez was born Jan. 12, 1929, in Fillmore, Calif., to Israel and Emila Dominguez.
He was a Gardnerville resident for the past five years, having moved from Long Beach, Wash. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from the Navy after 20 years.
Mr. Dominguez loved fishing and traveling. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed going to casinos. He loved sitting in his favorite spot overlooking Topaz Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Mr. Dominguez is survived by his son Mike L. of Oxnard, Calif.,; daughters Rita M. Longnecker of Gardnerville and Margarite Barker of Ventura, Calif.; sisters Estelle Walton of New Hall, Calif., Frances Martinez of Oxnard, and Barbara Dominguez of San Jose; and four grandchildren.
Cremation will be by FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City. FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville is in charge of arrangements.
