A funeral service for Roger Sam, 73, a Camp Antelope, Coleville resident, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Brune & Buck Mortuary Chapel, 325 West Elm St., Bishop.
Mr. Sam died April 2, 2000, at his home. He was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Lee Vining, Calif., to Frank and Betsy Sam.
He lived in Mono County for more than 50 years, but had also lived in Carson City for several years.
Mr. Sam was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received the Asiatic Pacific campaign medal, World War II victory medal and the Army occupation medal.
Among his survivors are his companion, Kathy Smith of Coleville; children, Kathy Talas, Betty Sam, Mervin Sam and Sherrie Sam, all of Carson City; brother, Joseph Sam of Carson City; sisters, Audrey Leonard of San Diego, Calif. and Ruth Austin of Riverside, Calf. and granddaughters, Betsy Talas and Daza Talas, both of Carson City.
Inurnment will be in the Mono Lake Cemetery, Lee Vining, at a later date.
Brune & Buck Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
