A memorial service for Theodore Russell Matley, 71, a Carson City resident since 1987, is 9 a.m. today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City.
Mr. Matley died Jan. 20, 2000 at Carson-Tahoe Hospital.
He was born July 5, 1928 in Reno to Theodore Roosevelt and Irene Pixley Matley.
He worked in the gaming industry and lived in South Lake Tahoe for 20 years before coming to Carson City.
Mr. Matley was a musician while serving in the U.S. Army. He played in the 6th Army Band and the 6th Army Bagpipe Band.
A member of the Silver State Model T Ford Club, he enjoyed restoring Model Ts, as well as gardening, traveling and painting. He also loved cats and dogs.
Mr. Matley was a member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors include wife Janeth Youngs Matley, of Carson City; sons Russell Scott Matley, of Sacramento, and Marshall Reno Matley, of Carson City; daughters Alyson Matley of Key West, Fla., and Gayle Colella of El Granada, Calif.; brothers Wayne O. Matley of Enumclaw, Wash., Lauren Matley of Everett, Wash., and Gordon Matley of Stockton, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
