Obituary: Verne Groff

Verne Edward "Ed" Groff, 82, a Yerington resident, died Oct. 25, 1999, at Washoe Medical Center in Reno. He was born Feb. 26, 1917, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Edward V. and Florence Simeon Groff.

Mr. Groff was a self-employed accountant. He was a member of the Mason Valley Country Club.

Among his survivors are his wife, Detta, of Yerington; children, Edward V. Groff, of Seattle, Wash., Patty Groff, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Jackie Parman, of San Jacinto, Calif., Judy Meeks of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Jill Simmons, of Riverside, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Cremation was at Carson Sierra Crematory.

A memorial service will be in Costa Mesa during the Thanksgiving holiday.
