Obituary, Viola C. Jackson

A Mass of the Resurrection for Viola C. Jackson, 68, a Carson City resident for the past three years, will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville. A second Mass will be held at 9 a.m. May 19 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Laguna Hills, Calif.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Monday at St. Gall Catholic Church and from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at McCormick & Son Mortuary in Laguna Hills. A Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. at McCormick & Son during the visitation.

Mrs. Jackson died may 11, 2000 , at her home. She was born Oct. 25, 1931, in Newark, N.J. to William and Beatrice A. Carter Langley.

She married Dorsey W. Jackson June 6, 1970, in Santa Barbara, Calif. They had known each other since they were children.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Laguna Niguel, Calif.

Mrs. Jackson was a Certified Nursing Assistant Supervisor serving at South Coast Medical Center in Laguna Beach. She worked at Safeway in Southern California for 13 years and received a Certified Nurse Assistant Award for the State of California in 1989. She also received the title of Jerusalem Pilgrim while in Israel in 1977.

She was a member of The Sacred Heart Auto League in East Orange, N.J., the Rosary Society at St. Nicholas Church in El Toro, Calif. and she belonged to different ministries serving the sick and the homebound in California. She was also a member of Saint Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville.

Among her survivors are her husband, Dorsey of Carson City; son, Clyde A. Fletcher of Aguanga, Calif.; daughters, Deborah Ann McGary of Minden and Diane Grace Buckley of Carson City; brothers, William Langley of Lakewood, N.J., Reggie Carter of New Jersey, Robert Langley of Lompoc, Calif. and Russell Langley of Los Angeles; sisters, Beatrice L. Merwin of Lompoc, Doris E. Henry of Orange, N.J. and Shirley A. Johnson of East Windsor, Conn.; grandchildren, Luis, William, Tracy and Christopher and great-grandchildren, Mercedes, Porshe and Joshia.

Interment will be at El Toro Memorial Park in Lake Forest, Calif.
