The old Carson City courthouse will get a new roof as part of its remodeling.

The Interim Finance Committee voted Thursday to spend $100,000 to replace the roof, including addition of a plywood deck on the old stone building to help seismic strengthening.

Public Works Board Manager Eric Raecke said his project coordinator and a roofing inspector have advised him the entire roof needs replacement with a structure similar to that used on Heroes Memorial Building next door on Carson Street.

The building is to be used as added space for the attorney general when completed.

The state bought the building at Carson and Musser across from the Capitol from Carson City two years ago.
