People need to stay informed on issues

At the April 13 Indian Hills GID meeting, two statements were made that disturb me greatly.

Trustee Dick Fairfax stated he spoke to about 10 of his neighbors in the Sunridge area asking if they read the district newsletter and responded to the survey about a community center.

He said they responded saying, "They didn't want to take the time to read the newsletter." What is disturbing me is that most of Mr. Fairfax's neighbors are senior citizens. Seniors who are not informed about their community are the most vulnerable to be taken advantage of. Please, neighbors, take the time to learn what is happening. It's your elected officials, your money, your community.

The other statement was made by Trustee Rene Haskell who said she was told by Mr. Wellman of the Sunridge Corp. that he had not paid his water bill in four months. She questioned why he was not notified that his water would be turned off if the bill went unpaid.

I was brought up to be ashamed of not paying my obligations. I wonder why Mr. Wellman feels the need to announce his unpaid bills at a public meeting. I resent a large corporation riding on my back. I pay on time, they can also.

Indian Hills GID residents, try to attend the meetings. It's the entertainment center of the neighborhood and the admission is free.
