Problems at local high schools

Minor problems greeted students at area high schools as law enforcement officers crowded the halls and scanned parking lots for unusual behavior.

One student was arrested at Carson High School when he reportedly ran down the hall, yelling "Gun, gun," said Carson City Lt. Ray Saylo. The student's age was unavailable.

Extra deputies were on campus to provide patrols and presence amid unsubstantiated rumors of violence.

Lyon County sheriff's deputies were also out in force, tracing a rumor of a Columbine-style attack on Dayton High School.

"We heard a rumor that they were going to do it over again and do it right," said Deputy Jerone Wynands. "We traced the rumor and it led here and there and we aren't sure if it originated from someone inside the school or outside the area."

Wynands reported that there were no major incidents at the school.
