I think this is the city's opportunity to get their fairground. They've been talking about it ever since I moved to Carson City. They talk about the amount of revenue that park brings in. If you check the motels June 24 when the Karson Kruzers have their car show, you'll see all the rooms are filled up already, so I think we need to have a good place to have events that would be open to everybody.

Fuji Park is a wonderful public area with many recreational uses. Also, Carson City already has enough shopping malls. The money derived from the sale of 15 acres to Costco should be utilized to improve Fuji fairground facilities and parking.

I've lived here for over 30 years, and I think I've been to Fuji Park twice. I'm not interested in cars, I'm not interested in rodeos, and I think the people who are interested in those things should get their money together to buy their buildings and so forth. I don't really care to have any general tax dollars of this recreation money going to something that serves so few people.

Eunice, Carson City

I think the future of Fuji Park should be much like it is now where the public can go to enjoy themselves whether it be at the park, auctions or for horse, dog or car lovers or whatever else. Construction of a covered convention center is a great idea for events in winter. There is precious little for the public to do here and the park is an important place for a lot of us. Also I think that some of the proposed $3 million should go to make the park more attractive, especially the car ring. It is in dire need of improvement. Investing in Fuji Park will benefit the city and the many people who enjoy it. We need this place.

Doreen, Carson City

I think anything and everything we can do to get our area larger and for our children and all of us the better we need to develop everything we can in our community. Fuji Park can be developed further for our advantage, and yes, we are all looking forward to Costco coming in too.

Anne, Carson City

They might as well move it because it is land locked. There's no room for expansion. You're talking a possible state fair being down here. Take the money, maintain the park in a usable state as it is and look elsewhere, possibly old Stewart school, and lets get more bang for the buck while we can.

Ralph, Carson City

No, I do not believe the park should be moved. It's been here a very long time, it's a very nice place, and with the open space, Question 18, that is a definite reason to keep it there, not to move it to put up something else in its place and have more concrete and even more traffic.

Loretta, Carson City

Fuji Park should have the improvements approved by the parks planning commission. Just because Costco is coming, we should not abolish our fairgrounds and our quality of life. I think it should be approved and also the go-cart track/multi-purpose building. I think it would be a big plus.

Vicki, Carson City

I'm all for putting money into Fuji Park. I'd rather see that than the bike path. My children were raised and played in Fuji Park during the '70s and '80s and had horse shows and all kinds of things , and I think it would benefit the community much more than a bike path.
