Applications for Christmas toy assistance through The Salvation Army are now available. Applications can be picked up at The Salvation Army Center for Worship and Service, 661 Colorado St., or at most social service agencies in Carson City.
Interviews to determine eligibility for assistance are available through Dec. 17. Those seeking help should schedule an appointment with The Salvation Army's Community outreach director by phoning 887-9120. Applicants must come in person to The Salvation Army with I.D. for themselves and each member of the family receiving assistance, as well as proof of income.
The Salvation Army provides toys to needy families through the Toys for Tots program, Angel Tree collections, the Adopt-a-Family program and its red kettle collections. Last year more than 600 families received aid and more than 1,000 children were given Christmas gifts.
