Score for Cancer, a three-day basketball camp, will be held June 19-21 in Carson City to benefit young players around the area as well as Carson Advocates for Cancer Care.
Presented by High Intensity Hoop Camp, the event will be held at Carson High School for boys and girls in 3rd through 8th grade. The camp is open to the first 100 applicants and the cost is $85 ($90 after May 20), with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Carson cancer community.
All campers will receive a T-shirt and basketball.
Aubrey McCreary is the camp founder, along with Morey Tresnit, and director. McCreary has coached at various Northern Nevada high schools over the past 20 years and was recently named assistant director for the prestigious West Coast All-Star Camp.
Other coaches due to appear at the camp include Pete Padgett (Reno High coach, former Carson High coach and former University of Nevada standout), Tom Mauer (Galena High coach), Tom Orlich (South Tahoe High coach), Tom Andreasen (who recently stepped down as head coach at Carson High), Eric Swain (McQueen High coach and former Carson High standout player), Randy Green and Keith Lewis (Douglas High coaches), Ken Cervantes (Shooting Stars Camp Director) plus Nick Callahan and Marshall Johnson (Bishop Manogue coaches).
