LAS VEGAS - Calling it an investment in the future, Sens. Harry Reid and Richard Bryan have secured $2 million to help in funding for a proposed high-speed train system.
Reid and Bryan say the money will help to keep the mag-lev train system ''on track and on time.''
The money is one more step in efforts to build a high-speed train between Las Vegas and Primm, Nev., on the California-Nevada border.
The 42-mile link is part of a proposed high-speed train route which would eventually shuttle riders between Las Vegas and Southern California.
The Nevada-California proposal is one of six competing for the right to build the nation's first high-speed magnetic levitation train service.
