A South Lake Tahoe man who was beaten with a pool cue in a barroom brawl Wednesday has been indentified as 35-year-old Juan Sandoval, Washoe Medical Center reported.
Sandoval, who was careflighted from Barton Memorial Hospital to Washoe Medical Center, is listed in serious but stable condition.
David Borror, a bartender at My Cousin's Joint who witnessed the brawl, said that he saw a man leave the bar with a broken pool cue and bludgeon a man outside.
"When I went out there was a guy curled up laying in the parking lot with head and face injuries," Borror said. "His whole face was bloody. He got up and crossed the street and ended up in the parking lot of DMV."
Police responded to the stabbing at My Cousin's Joint at the 3000 block of Sandy Way and found five injured men, two with stab wounds to the stomach, two with deep cuts to their hands and Sandoval who had been severely beaten.
Anthony Dana, 28, the co-owner of the bar, under went surgery at Barton Memorial Hospital on his right hand for torn ligaments and tendons and a compound fracture caused by a knife wound, has been treated an released. Patrick Newell, 20, who underwent surgery for a stomach wound was released Sunday and Steven Pagliaro, 29, who also under went surgery for a stomach wound is listed in stable condition. Steve Brewster, 29, had his hand wound treated and was released Thursday.
Police arrested Ricardo Camacho Hernandez, 26, Jose Alfredo Ortega, 35, and Javier Hernandez Camacho, 34, for attempted murder. Antonio Bera Jaime, 34, Roberto Ortega, 33, and Jose Luis Vences, 21, were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. All of the men involved in the brawl are South Lake Tahoe residents.
In April, the Department of Alcohol Beverage Control sent Dana a letter of warning for violations that included loitering, loud music, disturbing the peace and narcotics violations. ABC District Administrator Gerald P. Forsman stated in the letter that any "future similar violations will lead to the filing of a formal accusation against your license."
