New members are welcome and membership in the Dayton Valley Country Club is not a prerequisite.

Eagle Valley women starting


Staff Reports


Eagle Valley Women's golf club will tee it up at 9 a.m. on April 5, with 18 holes of play in 4-gal get acquainted teams, using an Orange Ball format.


The round will be preceded by continental breakfast and general membership meeting at 7:30 a.m. in the clubhouse.


Wednesday is Ladies Day at Eagle Valley and new members are welcome. For information call club president Pat Mahoney at 841-3347.

Joints In Motion seeks trainees

The Arthritis Foundation's Joints In Motion training team is looking for volunteers interested in running in the Honolulu Marathon as part of a fund-raiser.


Each participant will be responsible for a $100 registration fee and raising $3,000 in sponsorship money. The team will run in the Honolulu Marathon, which is held this December, and other benefits include paid airfare as well as accommodations for five nights and six days.


Team members will train under Miguel Tibaduiza.


Last year's team had 37 members and raised more than $130,000 for the arthritis foundation. This year's goal is 40 team members and $150,000.

Little Leage dedicates scholarships


Carson City Little League is dedicating all of its 2000 scholarships in the memory of Willie Housel.


Housel, a 1998 Carson High School graduate, died last week at the age of 19. He was a former member of the Carson High baseball team, and he also played in youth leagues.


The league is dedicating its scholarships in Housel's name for his "love and sincere enjoyment of the game."


Donations are still being accepted at Rick's Flooring, located at 3640 South Curry Street in Carson City.

Nascar exhibit at Home Depot


A state-of-the-art 53-foot NASCAR themed trailer outfitted with a No. 20 Home Depot Winston Cup show car and interactive tool workshops and displays will be at Home Depot in Carson City from 3-7 p.m. Monday.


Representatives from RIDGID and Husky will lead the demonstrations and displays, which are free and open to the public. Also, children can build their very own miniature race car as part of the Home Depot's Kids Workshop, which are children's "how-to clinics" held in all Home Depot stores. The workshops are also free and geared for children ages 6-12.

Silver State Little League looking for players


Silver State Little League of Silver Springs is looking for players and those interested in sponsorships for this spring's season.


Parents can sign up their children at the family arcade in Silver Springs after 2 p.m. any day. The registration fee is $35 per child with a $70 per-family cap. Parents interested in volunteering to coach can also sign up at that time.


Corporate sponsorships are available in three levels - Platinum, Gold and Silver - with a range from $500 to $125. Private individuals are also invited to sponsor teams at the $25 level.


The sponsorships help offset the cost of the Little League charter as well as uniforms and equipment.

Babe Ruth league needs coaches


The Sierra Nevada League of Babe Ruth Baseball is looking for baseball coaches for the upcoming season. The only requirement is that individuals must be 21 years of age. Younger individuals may be assistant coaches.


The teams are comprised of players ages 16-18.
