For the second year in a row, Carson High graduate Rebecca Fischer was honored by her University of North Dakota teammates as the most valuable swimmer on the Fighting Sioux.

Fischer helped lead the Sioux to its 20th consecutive North Central Coast conference championship with her win in the 200-yard individual medley in the conference meet.

Fischer went on to earn three All-American awards at the NCAA Div. II championships, where the Fighting Sioux placed third as a team. She has now earned All-American status in seven events over the past two seasons.

Fischer scored 50 points for North Dakota in the NCAA championships, reaching the finals in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and the 200- and 400-yard individual medley.
