Take a hike to top of Hawkins Peak

The Sierra District of the California State Park System is offering a guided hike on Saturday to the top of historic Hawkins Peak.


The Saturday hike is rated as "moderately difficult" with an elevation gain of 2,000 feet and a duration of about 5 hours.


Hikers are requested to meet at 9:30 a.m. at the parking area of the Burnside Lake Road. That area is at the junction of California S.R. 88 and California S.R. 89 (Picketts Junction) on the north end of Hope Valley.


Hikers will carpool from there.


Bring lunch, camera, sunscreen, warm layered clothing for variable weather conditions, good hiking boots and plenty of water.


Pets are not allowed.


There is no charge for the hike.
