Cool weather is expected to continue through today, but cloud cover should give way to warmer temperatures and sunshine by Wednesday.

A high of 58 degrees is expected for Carson City and Douglas County today, with partly cloudy skies and a slight chance of showers. A low in the mid-30s this evening is expected. Clouds should clear up Wednesday, and the temperature is expected to climb to 64.

Little or no snow is anticipated today and no road closures or controls are expected.

Another storm is expected to skirt the area late Saturday or Sunday.

"This is winter's last effort here to snow us in," said Terry Ryan, National Weather weather service specialist. "You've got to expect this type of weather in Nevada."

Carson City had .13 inches of rain Monday and a high temperature of 57 degrees. Ryan said the Sierra saw a few inches of snow, with 10 inches reported at 8,000 feet in Mammoth.

As the storm moves east, it will produce a winter storm watch today in the Ruby Mountains and the East Humboldt Range above 7,000 feet. A winter storm watch is in effect above 6,500 feet in the White Pine County into today.

Rain or snow are likely to continue through today followed by partial clearing on Wednesday.
