The 11th annual Kids Fishing Derby will be held on June 3-4 at Lampe Park in Gardnerville.
The derby provides an opportunity for about 2,400 youngsters to fish for trout, up to about eight pounds.
The annual event is conducted by the Kids Fishing Derby Committee, the Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department, the Nevada Division of Wildlife and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Lahontan Fish Hatchery.
- This year's derby officers are:
Co-Chairpersons Bob Ellis and Kim McQueary.
Secretary Pamela Rodrigues.
Treasurer Dave Hyman.
- The 2000 derby chairpersons are:
Bait and Poles: Sandy Deyo.
Food: Jackie Casey.
Grounds: Bruce Mulder.
Raffle: Bill Coleman.
Registration: Larry Marchant.
Sponsors: Pamela Rodrigues.
Volunteers: Tim Lietz.
The Kids Fishing Derby Committee has requested that anyone interested in donating time, equipment or money , please contact one of the chairpersons.
There is a need for any old or new fishing equipment such as rods, reels, nets, etc.
