Three people were arrested for suspected felonies Friday after allegedly driving a stolen vehicle to Carson City from Idaho via Washington and Oregon.
An anonymous caller reported about 3:30 p.m. that an unknown young couple with a baby was staying in an apartment complex in the 500 block of South Roop Street. A check of a 1998 Ford Explorer there showed it was a rental that had been reported stolen in Washington.
A 16-year-old girl was arrested at the apartments for investigation of felony possession of stolen property. According to the arrest report, she told deputies that she and her husband - Terry Dee Canup, 21, of Craigmont, Idaho - had driven the truck from their home to Seattle and picked up a friend, Grant Van Yeaman, 19, also of Craigmont. She said Yeaman knew that Canup was wanted as a fugitive. The group then drove to Carson City. After the girl's arrest, a three-month-old girl was placed in the care of Child Protective Services.
Canup and Yeaman were found by deputies at a downtown casino, where they reportedly were waiting for a bus to Reno. After their arrests, the men were found to each have marijuana smoking pipes on them, the report said.
Canup was arrested for investigation of felony being a fugitive from justice, felony possession of stolen property and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held on $25,000 bail. The Idaho fugitive warrant was for alleged concealed weapon, aggravated assault and domestic battery offenses.
Yeaman was arrested for investigation of felony possession of stolen property and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and held on $25,000 bail.
