WELLINGTON HILLS - Two men involved in a weekend crash of a former Coast Guard helicopter in southern Douglas County this weekend remain in serious condition Monday at Washoe Medical Center.

Pilot Mike Fleming Harrah, 49, from Santa Anna, Calif. and passenger Steven Huff, 42, from Lake Havasu, Ariz. were both involved in the wreck.

The crash occurred Saturday afternoon in Risue Canyon near Wellington Hills after the pilot lost control due to wind sheer. A passer-by noticed the helicopter, an S-61 Sikorsky, and called the Lyon County Sheriff's Department.

Lyon County, along with Douglas County Search and Rescue found the occupants, stabilized them and prepared them for transport to Washoe County via CareFlight helicopter, according to reports.

Conditions in the canyon were described as rough terrain, brush, clear skies and light ground winds.
