UNR breaking ground on a new library

University of Nevada, Reno, President Joe Crowley will lead today's ceremony to break ground on a new library and education building for the School of Medicine.

The William and Myriam Pennington Library and Medical Education Building will be located southeast of the Savitt Medical Science Building on UNR's campus.

The ceremony for the $10.5 million project will start at 10:45 a.m.

The new buildings will incorporate the Savitt Medical Library and the Landra Reid Center for Women's Health Studies.

The Penningtons will pay for the bulk of the new buildings' cost. The Nevada Legislature contributed $4 million to the project.
