WalkAmerica 2000 takes to the streets of Carson City and Gardnerville on Saturday.
The three-mile walk to raise money for the March of Dimes.
The event will raise funds for improving babies' health and preventing birth defects. Since 1970, Americans have been helping the March of Dimes save babies' lives by participating in the walk.
Participants raise money through donations and sponsorships.
March of Dimes is a non-profit organization that works to improve the health of America's children. Founded in 1938 by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the March of Dimes goal was to defeat polio and today has become the leading advocate for the health of mother and babies.
The Walk begins in Carson City at the Capitol Amphitheater, with registration at 7:30 a.m. and the start at 8:30 a.m.
Gardnerville walkers gather at 8 a.m. for registration and begin walking at 8:30 a.m.
