Washoe County is seeking proposals for a new site to build a Regional Juvenile Justice Center on.
The deadline for proposals is 5 p.m. Feb. 28.
Washoe County Commissioners have set the juvenile facility needed to replace Wittenberg Hall as one of their top priorities. They have called for at least 99 beds, expandable to 144 in the future, that will allow separation of juveniles based on age, legal of violence and mental health issues. But they say it will be a no-frills center that focuses on meeting state educational requirements and treatment programs with a strong substance abuse emphasis.
The facility will cost about $15 million.
Washoe officials say they need at least 12 acres with sufficient open space around the perimeter and accessibility for law enforcement and parents visiting.
Proposals should be delivered to the Washoe Department of Public Works, 1001 E. Ninth St. in Reno. More information is available at 328-3624.
