According to a recent press release from the Alpine County Chamber of Commerce, the West Carson River in California will have some major construction changes this year.

California's Wildlife Conservation Board recently approved $250,000 for the construction of an "All Access" fishing site at Pickett's Junction..

That junction is on the north edge of Hope Valley at the intersection of S.R. 88 (Kit Carson Pass) to Jackson and S.R. 89 (Luther Pass) to South Lake Tahoe.

The fishing site will be accessible to wheelchairs and those with other disabilities.

The new facility will include parking, restrooms and paved pathways to the river's edge.

Construction is scheduled to begin this summer with completion expected in the fall.
