A series of workshops on plans for a Newlands Project water rights fund is being held this week in western Nevada.
The Bureau of Reclamation is looking into the effects of reclamation providing $7 million to join other entities in supporting the fund that would acquire and retire 6,500 acres of surface water rights in the Newlands Project.
The first meeting was held Monday in Fallon. The others will be held in Fernley tonight, Nixon tomorrow night and Carson City on Thursday, may 11.
All the meetings begin at 7 p.m.
The Fernley meeting will be at the Town Complex and the Nixon meeting in the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe's chambers.
The Carson City meeting will be held at the Nevada State Library.
