A Yerington man was killed Thursday after authorities said he pulled his vehicle out in front of a semi-truck about 7 p.m. in Holbrook Junction.
Errol William Lampkin, 62, of Spense Lane, died at the scene of the accident at the intersection of highways 395 and 208.
Many Douglas County volunteer firefighters and paramedics came to the scene. Paramedic Captain Robert Lekumberry said Lampkin was in full cardiac arrest when the paramedics reached the scene and they attempted to revive him until CareFlight came to the scene. CareFlight medical workers pronounced Lampkin dead at the scene, Lekumberry said.
The driver of the truck, Duane Guillot, 37, of Independence, La., was not cited, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. Phil Shemick. He was reported to have minor injuries.
A third vehicle was hit by flying debris. Lekumberry said the driver, whom he could not name, had minor injuries and was taken to Carson Valley Medical Center.
The fatal accident topped off a long day for the Nevada Highway Patrol which began with several accidents on north Highway 395 at about 9:30 a.m.
Shemick said his officers were at the scenes of four separate accidents near Stephanie Lane for about 2-1/2 hours.
