Robert Reed "Bob" Werts, also known as Mugwump, 76, a Carson City resident for the past 15 years, died July 22, 2001 at his home. He was born April 22, 1925, in Los Angeles to Richard Albert and Emma Gladys Reed Werts.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Long Beach, Calif.
Mr. Werts worked for Shell Oil Co. for 26 years and THUMS (Texaco, Humble, Union, Mobile and Shell), Long Beach County, for 20 years in oil production. He loved his animals, especially his dogs Smitty, Holly and Bummer. He also liked to garden.
He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II.
Among his survivors are his wife Ruth of Carson City; sons Robert A. of Virginia Beach, Va., Richard R. of Carson City, Michael J. Leary of Apple Valley, Calif. and Craig Crevling of Carson City; daughters Kathleen M. Parker of Long Beach and Lorraine D. (Werts) Crevling of Carson City; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Linda of Santee, Calif. and grandchildren Josh, Chris, Ryan, Steven and Kelsey.
At his request, no service will be held.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite animal society.
