Winners of the Nevada Day poster contest have been announced.
A $250 cash grand prize will be awarded to Erik Achenback of Carson City High School for the best overall poster. Achenback's entry will be the cover of the official Nevada Day program.
Other awards include: a $100 cash prize to Andy Howard of Carson City High School, $50 cash prizes will be awarded to Jorge Luna of West Wendover Middle School and Jerad Miller of Round Mountain Elementary. Chelsea Sulli of Carson City High School won the TechnoArt category with a cash prize of $100.
Dorothy Paulsen, Ann Cameron, Nita Bearce, and Candice Kramer of the Brewery Arts Center Artists Association judged the posters.
All posters were judged on artistic quality for age level, following the Nevada Day theme and originality of thought.
Entries were received from the following schools: Carson City High School, Round Mountain Elementary, West Wendover Jr/Sr High School, Carson City Middle School and Amargosa Middle School.
All winners will be invited to ride in a special Nevada Day parade entry on Oct. 27 with a presentation of the prizes immediately following at the GovernorOs Mansion, 600 N. Mountain St. by Nevada first lady Dema Guinn.
