Sheldon Alfred Walcom, 70, a Gardnerville resident for the past five years and former Carson City resident, died Sept. 6, 2001 at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Livingston, Calif. to Alfred and Marie Silva Walcom.
Mr. Walcom was a banker for many years. He was an avid sailor and enjoyed camping and fishing. He also loved to restore antique automobiles.
He served in the U.S. Navy for two years in the intelligence division.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Among his survivors are his wife Diana M. of Gardnerville; sons Scott Walcom of Las Vegas and Chuck Cole of Gardnerville; daughters Cindy Camerlengo of Columbus, Ohio, Christi Denison of Las Vegas and Sherri Barron of Gardnerville; three granddaughters and five grandsons.
There will be a private memorial service for family and friends.
Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.
Walton's Douglas County Mortuary, Minden, is in charge of arrangements.
