Here's what's happening in the Nevada hunting world in the near future:
-- Sept. 14 - Closing day of the archery pronghorn antelope hunting season for management area Nos. 202 and 204.
-- Sept. 14 - Closing day of the archery antlered elk hunting season for management area Nos. 072 and 231.
-- Sept. 14 - Deadline for receiving applications for the fall season, wild turkey hunts in Nevada. Call the Nevada Division of Wildlife headquarters in Reno at 688-1500 during regular business hours.
-- Sept. 15 - Opening day of the "any legal weapon" antlered elk hunting season for management area Nos. 072-Early and 079. This season will close on Oct. 5.
-- Sept. 15 - Opening day of the muzzleloader antlered elk hunting season for management area No. 231-Early. This season will close on Oct. 5.
-- Sept. 15 - Opening day of the 2001, Nevada sage grouse (sagehen) hunting season in Unit No. 033 of Washoe and Humboldt Counties. This season will close on Sept. 16. This hunt is for special tag holders only.
-- Sept. 16 - Closing day of the archery antlered elk hunting season for management area Nos. 061, 071, 075, 077, 081, 104, 105, 131 and 262.
-- Sept. 16 - Closing day of the archery antlered elk hunting season for management area Nos. 111-115, 221 and 222.
-- Sept. 16 - Closing day of the 2001, Nevada sage grouse (sagehen) hunting season in Unit No. 033 of Washoe and Humboldt Counties.
